Remove dough from hands – easily loosen sticky dough residue

After kneading bread, pizza or sourdough, dough residue often sticks to fingers and hands. If you immediately use very warm water, you may spread the sticky mixture rather than remove it.

How to remove sticky dough from your hands

  1. First wipe off larger pieces of dough with your fingers or a dough scraper.
  2. Rinse your hands with cold to lukewarm water.
  3. Gently loosen any remaining residue mechanically.
  4. Then wash your hands as usual with soap and dry them thoroughly.

Why avoid hot water at first?

For dough residue, cold to lukewarm water is usually more suitable for the initial cleaning. Once most of the dough has been removed, normal hand washing can follow.

Remove dough residue from the bowl and work surface at the same time

After kneading, it is usually not only your hands that are sticky. Bowls, dough hooks and work surfaces also carry residue. The Teiger® cleaning cloth with its open mesh structure was developed especially to mechanically pick up and loosen dough residue.
