What makes the Teiger® dough cleaning cloth special?

Teiger® was developed specifically for cleaning dough residue and other stubborn kitchen messes. Its key features are the open, single-layer mesh structure, the carefully selected mesh size and the reinforced edge. Residue can be loosened mechanically and then rinsed out of the cloth more easily.

Teiger® is made in Germany, certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, and can be cleaned in the dishwasher or washing machine.

How is Teiger® different from conventional dishcloths and sponges?

Many conventional dishcloths use a dense fabric, while sponges have a closed or fine-pored structure. Teiger® instead uses an open mesh structure. Sticky dough residue can be picked up and then rinsed out of the cloth more easily.

Another difference is the reinforced edge. Teiger® does not rely on conventional overlocking, where residue can collect, but uses a robust edge construction designed for regular use.

Why is Teiger® single-layer?

The single-layer construction is intentional. Dough and other residue could become trapped between two overlapping mesh layers. With Teiger®, the structure remains open and accessible, making the cloth easier to rinse and clean after use.

Why is the mesh structure important for dough residue?

Dough can become embedded in densely woven cloths or sponges. The open mesh structure of Teiger® supports the mechanical loosening of fresh, sticky and dried-on dough residue without dense textile layers enclosing the residue.

How do I use Teiger®?

Lightly moisten Teiger® or add a little water to the area to be cleaned, then wipe over the residue. After use, rinse the cloth thoroughly under running water.

For dried-on dough, it helps to moisten the residue first. See our detailed guide to removing dried-on dough.

How do I remove sticky or dried-on dough residue?

Remove coarse dough residue first. Moisten stubborn or dried-on residue with a little water, then loosen it mechanically with Teiger®. Typical applications include mixing bowls, dough hooks, baking utensils and suitable work surfaces.

Can I use Teiger® for sourdough and pizza dough?

Yes. Teiger® is also suitable for cleaning after working with sourdough, bread dough and pizza dough. Sticky residue on bowls, tools and suitable work surfaces is one of the typical applications of the cleaning cloth.

How do I clean Teiger® after use?

Which surfaces can I clean with Teiger®?

Teiger® can be used on many common surfaces in the kitchen and home that are suitable for mechanical cleaning, including plastic, glass, porcelain, ceramic and many metal surfaces.

For sensitive, coated or unfamiliar surfaces, follow the manufacturer’s care instructions and test the cloth on an inconspicuous area first. We deliberately avoid making a blanket claim that any cleaning cloth is suitable for every surface without exception.

Can I use Teiger® for grease, burnt-on residue and other dirt?

Yes. Teiger® is not limited to dough residue. Depending on the surface and type of dirt, the mesh structure can also help loosen grease, adhering food residue and other stubborn kitchen messes. Follow the relevant care instructions for sensitive or coated surfaces.

Is Teiger® only for baking?

No. Although it was originally developed with dough residue in mind, Teiger® can be used in many ways when baking, cooking and cleaning in the kitchen and home. It is more than a conventional dough cloth or dishcloth.
