Bread-Baking Accessories – Practical Tools for Home Bakers

Good bread-baking accessories should make working with dough easier. A few utensils are enough at first; additional helpers can be added as your experience grows.

Basic equipment for bread baking

Frequently used tools include kitchen scales, a mixing bowl, dough scraper, baking tin or vessel and, depending on the bread, a proofing basket. See our basic bread-baking equipment guide.

Dough scraper and bench scraper

A flexible dough scraper helps scrape bowls, portion dough and work with soft or sticky dough.

Flour sifter and fine sieve

A fine sieve distributes flour evenly over work surfaces, dough or proofing baskets. It is also useful for icing sugar, cocoa and other fine ingredients. Read our flour-sifter guide.

Cleaning is part of the baking setup

Sticky dough can become embedded in conventional sponges and cloths. The Teiger® cleaning cloth has an open mesh structure and was developed especially for removing dough residue.
